a little about me

“O my body, make of me always a man who questions!”

-Frantz Fanon

My name is Diamanda Ayasha Idris Kadrichu and I am, as of writing this, 22 years old. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, a place where I spent most of my life, until I was given the opportunity to pursue an education abroad at 17.  Now, it is my final year at Breda University of Applied Sciences, taking the course International Media & Entertainment Management with a specialization in production. Throughout this study, I have gathered experiences that span through all aspects of video production, from conceptualizing to paperwork to realizing the idea. The combination of the knowledge taught at school, projects with real clients and my internship has made me confident in my abilities in a variety of things, but behind the camera is where I feel most comfortable.

Since childhood, visual media has been a fascination of mine, as they have the particular power of being a universally understandable language. Being an international storyteller, visuals are a device that allows me to create meaning that crosses invisible cultural boundaries. Film-making is where my passion lies, documentaries in particular, a medium that reflects but at the same time shapes the world around us. However, my interests also extend into photography, visual arts and creative writing.

By staying curious and keeping it in mind to never stop observing, it is certain that I evolve as a creative. Staying alert to the latest developments in the industry while simultaneously being in tune with the social realities around me is key. In all of the work that I do, I make it a point to carry out my due research, to guide me in making the most informed decisions, ethically and creatively. But manifesting my growth goes beyond just academia, rather it serves to illuminate how I can bring about the change that I want. As I do this, I fuel my drive, and in turn, sharpen my critical thinking that will assist me to offer something of value to the world.

I am currently looking for a graduation internship in the realm of film/video production, starting in September of 2020. I am adaptable and never hesitate to put in extra hours when necessary.
